The web is filled with millions if not billions of individual websites. One of the most major problems with web designers is over decorating. Have you ever visited a friends myspace page and found nothing but glitter images and animation? This can not only be overwhelming but it can also extend the amount of time it takes for a website to load. That is why I am a big fan of minimalistic websites.
